ONE OF MY TOUGHEST NIGHTS ON THE JOB

My fellow comrades, make una hear gist at the same time join me thank God.

I was in Thomas estate when this trip came in around some minutes past 2am on indriver. I was to take this particular passenger to somewhere around Orinbanwa beside Blenco supermarket. 

We embarked on the trip which was very smooth until we got to the busstop from where we are to connect the the rider's street. 

On entering the street right from the express, A man out of the dark suddenly appeared in front of me while moving his right towards the edge of his short gesticulating to me to turn off my car, at the same time moving his right hand around his waist as though he  wanted to reach for his pistol that's tucked there. Omo na so, I put car for reverse o use speed try to cut enter express. I didn't know that they already parked their bus behind me blocking the entrance of the Street. 

Omo 3 other guys from no where suddenly appeared from both sides of my car and another one behind. Intuitively, i just knew that I have ran into an ambush. Later, I got to find out that only two of them- the one at my back, and another at the passenger's door side had police vests on and which didn't even notice owing to the fact that it was so dark  and my instinct at that moment was only to survive.

Omo I kept hitting the car they used to block the entrance but my brothers, those Volkswagen danfo buses wey dey run Lekki to Obalende too strong for Corolla to push commot for road easily. The more they kept aiming their guns at me, the higher the adrenaline level within me was overflowing. I even use the motor climb one of them leg because he stood in my way while I was trying to wriggle my way out of that street.  I sha know say no be this morning I go die, the rider don already dey cry dey beg me to  stop for them but the truth is: if you must take my corolla from me, you must earn it. And besides, I have a better chance of still escaping while running than to just surrender to them (at this time, I still never know say them be police o, na robbers i see them as).  Not until them use gun hit my driver's side glass, while the one to my left broke my passenger's side mirror and the others other two were busy picking interlock stones and throwing at my vehicle.

As one of them eventually entered my car because I was  stuck, that was when I got to know they're police men. Immediately, they cuffed me and my rider and took us to their bus. Na so so slap, blows and kicks them dey dash me, even the passenger wasn't spared o. They ransacked our car and kept asking us of drugs o...

We eventually got to their station at Elemoro, that was when I realized a lady was earlier robbed by 3 guys on the street I was supposed to take my rider to. The lady reported the matter to the police after the robbers had gone but for the strangest of reason the policemen stayed back just to pick up any random person that would enter the street. Unfortunately, my client and I nai them make scapegoat.

The funny thing is the oga is even oblivious that his men went on a raid without informing him. Immediately, he asked them to uncuff us to hear what exactly happened. Na so all the policemen lie against me o. Say I was running away from them that I even had to run over one of them and even damage the vehicle They used for the raid. Me sha tell the oga say, I think say na kidnappers because they weren't dressed as officers and my own was to protect myself and client because think say  I carry dead body of my client come station over robbery attack they wouldn't have believed me and I only did what I feel was best for me at that situation. They brought the lady that was robbed, she confirmed we were not the ones who robbed her. Na so police release me and my client say make we dey go after their oga scold them openly. But I no gree oo. I tell them say them go repair my car. immediately, they turned the case against me that i will have to equally compensate the bus driver, whose bus I damaged. From there English start oo that they even wanted to detain me for injuring an officer.. last last, I told them that we will have to split the bill 50-50..Eventually sha, they ended up begging me with 20k to buy driver side glass while I take care of my mirror and body work from my own end...I begrudgingly agreed after which they gave me the money. I reach house count the money come discover say na 12,500 naira them really give me instead of 20k. But at all at all na winch. Make una help me thank God say the matter no big pass this one because I see something wey for carry me commot from society for a while but by his grace it was averted and thank God the ogogoro wey them take no intoxicate them reach to shoot me.
