My Bitter and Hilarious Encounter With A Lagos Phone Thief.

 On the 24th December 2022, Immediately I bought fuel in the morning, I drove to mojidi Street, Ikeja. Just as I was about to park at the front of the church or Event Centre adjacent Presken Hotel.  A guy walked up to me saying they need a taxi to take them TO & FRO to ojota to pack some bottled water.

I charged him 10k but he  beat the price down to 8k. He then walked into the Church to discuss it with his friend/ colleague I guessed .  He was over delaying me , therefore, I walked to the entrance of the Church I noticed he was  talking to a guy arranging chairs in the place but immediately he sighted me behind him, he came out to meet me saying we should go.  

Nevertheless, I didn't suspect any foul play. He came in the car and we proceeded to ojota via Maryland. We turned right into ojota just before Ogudu road and moved forward like 100metres and there was a provision shop.  He asked me to park then he came down to meet the shop owner while I was parking and arranging my boot for the bottle water.

 In no time, the woman and her children plus the guy who took me there started bringing the packs of the bottled water and I was loading it into the car. few minutes later, the guy came to meet me asking how many packs was already in the car . I asked him to  count and he did the counting. He then asked if I had call credit that he wanted to call MAMA that there was no EVA water but without thinking twice, I asked him to call the number and dialed it.

  Unfortunately, my card don finish. The guy keep asking if I uses MTN OR GLOW that I should bring my phone so he could go get card. I rejected telling him he should hold on for me to buy it from my account but he kept pestering.

 He was becoming suspicious but to prove my instincts wrong, I dialed the number He gave to me and handed the phone to him but I was vigilant.

However, immediately the phone got to him, instead of making call beside me, he walked away from me and the woman we were packing water from and started jogging from the vicinity.  I quickly went to meet the water seller asking her where was her boy taking my phone to that he said he wanted to call MAMA with my phone.

 The woman screamed she doesn't know him o.  I pursued the thief and while screaming loudly but when he noticed he could no longer escape, he quickly run back to me and handed me back my phone.

 I gladly collected my phone without exchanging words with him and left him.  The people on the street were so happy for me cos they saw everything that happened.

 This  was how God saved me.
